Monday, October 2nd
- FUNDRAISER Packets are due. Pick up date is Thursday, October 26th from 3:30-7:00pm (first night of parent teacher conferences).
- LEADERSHIP FAIR will be an assembly from 2-3:00 pm for 2nd-4th grade and they will learn all about the student action team choices. Student action teams will meet Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings from 8:20-8:40. There are a variety of action teams (jobs) they can choose from. They will learn leadership responsibilities and take ownership of our school. A few examples include: Grounds Crew (taking care of outside areas), Green Team (collect recycling from classrooms), Office Crew (stocking workroom, delivering messages to teachers, etc.) Students will fill out an application if they want to take part in a student action team.
- OPEN HOUSE! Please come check out our classroom, sign up for parent teacher conferences, see your child's Leadership Binder, do a scavenger hunt around the school, and learn about student action team options. You are welcome to stop by anytime from 6:00-7:30.
Tuesday, October 3rd
- HAT DAY, don't forget to bring a can or boxed food item for out Willard food pantry
- McTEACHER NIGHT at the corner of West Bypass and Chestnut. Come see your teachers work at McDonald's to earn money to spend in their classroom from 4:00-8:00 pm.
- STUDENT ACTION TEAM APPLICATIONS due! Interviews will start next week.
- BOOK ORDERS are due! Hopefully you saw the two Scholastic book orders that went home last Thursday. If you would like to order online instead of using the forms CLICK HERE. Thank you for ordering!
- Wednesdays: STEM club meets
- Thursdays: Good News Club meets. If you would like to join I can get get more permission slips.
- Math: Two digit adding strategies. These strategies are challenging and very interesting, it's definitely not how we learned to add! Ask our child to show you break apart or compensation! These strategies are building foundations for mental math.
- Writing: Still writing personal narratives. We are adding entertaining beginnings to grab the readers attention, transition words and great endings.
- Reading: I've finished up DRA testing to find their independent reading levels. This week all second grade students will be placed in groups based on their reading level. They will travel to other second grade teachers to meet for guided reading, focusing on strategies based on their reading levels. THANK YOU for taking the time to read at home!!
- Social Studies/Science: We are finishing up communities and majority rule. We will be getting into science topics and learning the steps to scientific inquiry.
