I'm sorry for not keeping up with this!! I know our office does a great job of keeping you all informed on what's going on. Here are a few reminders:
HAT DAY: Our LAST hat day will be Tuesday, May 1st. Please send in hygiene products: soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc. BOOK SWAP: Mr. Stockton will be hosting another Book Swap this year Wednesday, May 9th. Please send in any unwanted books that are still in good condition so students can trade books and get a new one to take home. Last year he was able to give a book to every student in the school. FIELD TRIP: We will be going on another field trip to Fantastic Caverns on Friday, May 11th. Keep a look out for a note coming home about the $6.00 entry fee and a sign up to come along with us. We had a great time at the Springfield Art Museum, below are some pictures from the trip. FIELD DAY: Field Day will be Friday, May 18th. Last week we had a great time wrapping up our land forms unit by creating our own salt dough island that included a variety of land forms. Next week we will paint them and bring them home.
We kicked off our spring break with "Camp Read-A-Lot" in the morning. We enjoyed reading around a 'camp fire' and under tents with our flashlights. We had a few fourth grade guests read their nonfiction writing to us. Buddy day was all afternoon. We ate lunch, had recess and played games with our Kindergarten Buddies from Mrs. Bailey's class. I can't believe it's already 4th quarter! Here are a few things we will be learning... Math: Subtracting 3-digit numbers with regrouping Writing: Poetry Reading: Finishing up inferences, then moral of the story Social Studies: Erosion Important Dates: Spring Picture Day: Wednesday, March 28th NO SCHOOL: Friday, March 30th and Monday, April 2nd Hat Day: Tuesday, April 3rd, bring a canned or boxed food item We've had a great few weeks back. I hope everyone enjoyed the extra snow day break! I know I'm ready to get back to the grind :-)

Other Info: **SNOW MAKE UP DAYS will be Monday, February 19th and Thursday, May 24th. So Thursday, May 24th is now a half day and our last day of school, Wednesday May 23rd will be a full day. **Students Enterprise Team will be selling pencils, erasers, mini notebooks, and Smencils Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays before Community Time. Most items are $.25-$.50. **Yearbooks are on sale now! Order forms went home last week. You can also order online: https://inter-state.com/yearbook Code: 21946E. $15 for regular copy or $20 for personalized name on front. **Please make sure I get a note, email, or phone call if your child is going home a different way. I trust your child and everything, it just makes things a lot more clear when I hear from you :-) If they are signed up for an after school club, that is where I plan on sending them. **Please check your child's STAR folder and sign their behavior calendar if they get yellow or orange. Thank you for all your support at home!! Thank you for all the candy, frosting, and graham crackers. We had so much fun making gingerbread houses!! I hope everyone is ready for Christmas! We are finishing up second quarter with a few assessments and fun activities! All week we will be traveling to different second grade classrooms to learn how other countries celebrate Christmas, ask you student what country they learned about each day!
Tuesday, December 19th POLAR EXPRESS DAY: Students can wear pajamas to school and we will be watching Polar Express in the afternoon. Please remember we will still be going outside for recess so students might want to wear layers. Thursday, December 21st will be a half day, students will be dismissed at 12:30. We will be making mini gingerbread houses for our winter party. If you can please donate small candies, graham crackers, white frosting in a tub, etc. to help make our gingerbread houses festive I would greatly appreciate it! So far we have one tub of frosting and one bag of marshmallows. I hope everyone has a relaxing holiday break! I look forward to spending time with friends and family. School starts back Thursday, January 4th. Help promote leadership and kindness this holiday season. Encourage your child to participate in each simple, daily activity.
